The Elisa Media Center has many advanced features that will make your media center experience unique. It features an intuitive interface with a professional look and feel which can be easily used with a standard TV remote control.

Movies

Watch your own movies and video clips as well as those found online.

Pictures

Watch your pictures with previews and nicely animated slideshows.

Music

Manage your music collection by artists or album covers.

Fully Networked

Elisa automatically finds media from other computers on your local network.

Peripheral Devices

Automatically detects iPods, cameras, hard drives, etc...

Internet

Everything from Flickr to Youtube and other popular internet services.

I am very impressed about Elisa. I installed today Elisa 0.5.9 and it is such a beautiful application. I tried Elisa a time ago, but there was nothing to say about it.

I installed the Elisa-Plug ins how are supporting the Shoutcast http://www.shoutcast.com free Internet radio streaming service. Also nice was the Flickr plug in how allows you to browse and watch photos from the Flickr.com - http://www.flickr.com website. At last, the YouTube - http://www.youtube.com Plug In, where users can upload, view and share video clips.

All together, if you like a eye candy Media Center to impress you friends, Elisa is the answer. It is also available for Mac and Windows.

:) + A nice GUI how is a very nice Eye Candy
:) + It have all codecs you need based on GStreamer

:( -need a lot of memory ( 2GB +) and minimum Pentium D, better a higher Processor.

I tested Elisa on
Archlinux
http://www.archlinux.org/

and

openSUSE 11 (Factory KDE4.1.1 Edition)
http://download.opensuse.org/repositori ... SUSE_11.0/
http://download.opensuse.org/repositori ... y_Desktop/

meh, xbmc does the trick for me. If only the xbox was powerful enough to transcode stuff on the fly.

You need to install some extra stuff then it works.

Code:
("ttf-liberation: for a good looking font"
"xdg-user-dirs or pyxdg: for user default multimedia directories support"
"python-gdata: for YouTube video streaming website support"
   "gstreamer-plugins-bad"
   "gstreamer-plugins-ugly"
   "gstreamer-ffmpeg"
   "lirc: for LIRC support"
   "python-daap: for DAAP support"
   "libgpod: for iPod support")

Solution........

http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=54447

Quote:
You need to have avahi-daemon running in order for it to start.

Code:
[[email protected] rc.d]# /etc/rc.d/avahi-daemon start
:: Starting Avahi mDNS/DNS-SD Daemon                                                                       [DONE]
[[email protected] rc.d]#

works fine now.......... finally.........
